In firearms and self-defense, practical experience and proven expertise speak volumes. That's precisely why I jumped at the opportunity when Scott McClure from Division Arms, a renowned North Carolina provider of quality concealed carry and hunting equipment, approached me to test the Kiger-9c Pro Frame from Anderson Manufacturing. Located deep in the heart of the Nash/Wilson County community, Division Arms has become a beacon for firearm enthusiasts.
Practical Results
Over the past year, I've led 24 handgun classes, integrating the Kiger-9c into each session's drills and demonstrations. When I teach a class, I demonstrate every drill and task. I do not shoot as much as the students do, but I average around 150 rounds fired per class. My total rounds discharged through this frame in 2024 is about 3,600 rounds fired. These classes have ranged from Defensive Pistol and North Carolina Concealed Carry, providing a rigorous firearm test under various conditions.
Discovering Excellence: The Kiger-9c Pro Frame and Division Arms
A highlight of my year was the Run-N-Gun Land Nav event in May 2024, where conditioning and equipment were tested. Here's a closer look at the conditions the Kiger-9c Pro Frame experienced during this demanding event and environment:
Distinguishing Features of the Kiger-9c Pro Frame
The Kiger-9c Pro Frame impresses with its enhanced controls, aggressive stippling at critical touch points, and an ergonomic design featuring an undercut trigger guard and extended beaver tail for improved controllability during rapid firing sequences. Its forward Picatinny rail facilitates easy customization with accessories, optimizing it for self-defense scenarios.
As a Glock 19 handgun clone frame, the Kiger-9c is fully compatible with all Glock 9mm double-stacked magazines, including Magpul™ GL9 PMAGs and factory G19 and G17 magazines. The fine-tuned 4.5-pound trigger pull significantly enhances responsiveness and control, offering a substantial upgrade over the standard Glock trigger. I would say, this trigger is worth the frame upgrade by itself.
Holsters and Handgun Setup
My configuration might provide insights for those seeking a dependable carry setup. I've equipped the Kiger-9c Pro Frame with a Gen 3 Glock Slide and added the EGW Trijicon RMR Sight Mount, simplifying the installation of a Trijicon RMR red dot sight. This improvement accelerates sighting and enhances accuracy, which is pivotal for training and self-defense.
Choosing the right holster is critical; reliability and security are paramount, based on my experience. I use the Light Bearing AIWB Holster from Dara Holsters, specifically opting for the soft loops over belt clips, which I've found less reliable. This setup ensures the holster remains securely in place, whether in motion, training, or self-defense.
Recently, I switched from the long-serving Streamlight TLR to the Gmconn WML, an off-brand option from Amazon that has performed admirably over the past 90 days during various training events. Despite being slightly larger than the TLR-1, it fits nicely in my adjusted Dara Holster.
What’s New in 2025?
I just ordered the Kiger-9c Assembled Pro Slide with a Kiger-9c Barrel with a Recessed Crown and smooth Breech Block in 9MM made from 416R Stainless Steel with a DLC finish. It will be interesting to see how this performs in the upcoming year.
